Advanced cable technologies for power and data transmission

Veronica Martin sat down with Arafat Yousef, MEA, Managing Director of Nexans Data Network Solutions to discuss GITEX 2022 and the company’s plans for the region.

Can you tell our readers about some of the solutions and partnerships at GITEX this year?
We help companies make smart choices to select the best solution for their cabling infrastructure. These range from copper and fiber cabling systems, active network switches for Fiber To The Office (FTTO) installations to automated infrastructure management (AIM).

Over the past 12 months, how has your company performed in the MENA market? Has your business ventured into new markets/countries?

Our business has grown significantly in 2022. We have expanded our team in Saudi Arabia and the Easter and Western regions around the Red Sea. We have entered into agreements with major contractors, governments (such as the Ministry of Health in Jordan) and private sector companies.

What IT technologies and trends are driving innovation for your business?

Our main focus is the sustainability of data center solutions, cabling infrastructure and active terrestrial solutions using FTTO technologies.

What do you think differentiates your business from your competitors?

I don’t mean the quality of our products and solutions. What really makes us different is that we offer the complete solution, and we are truly confident in offering a 25 year warranty on our products and solutions.

On top of that, we have an extremely capable team that provides full support to our end users, including our design team, which is RCDD certified.

What are the key messages you would like to pass on to people attending GITEX?

We can see now that all applications depend on the cabling infrastructure and our main problem is that we work on the physical layer, which means that some end users, contractors and consultants don’t really pay attention to this infrastructure.

All applications and servers are connected through the cabling infrastructure so that is the most important part of the whole network cycle and I would like everyone to be aware of its importance and that is how we have managed to win clients such as the Ministry of Health in Jordan and the Dubai Police.
