India’s second largest telecom operator, Airtel, has announced the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in several major cities across the country.
The recently launched Airtel 5G Plus service will allow users to access 5G internet service without the need to change SIM cards.
Additionally, the company claims that Airtel 5G Plus could deliver internet speeds between 20 and 30 times faster than what is currently offered.
Airtel is allowing all 5G smartphone owners to enjoy Airtel 5G Plus “broadband” on their existing data plans until the 5G rollout becomes more widespread.
In a statement, Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, said: “Today marks another step in our journey as we build the best network to deliver the best experience to our customers. For us, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Our solution will therefore work on any 5G handset and existing SIM card customers have.
Currently, 5G Plus is being launched for Airtel customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi.
“Our obsession with customer experience is now complemented by a more environmentally friendly 5G solution. Airtel 5G Plus is poised to redefine the way people communicate, live, work, connect and play for years to come,” added Vittal.
