AT&T to participate in affordable connectivity program

DALLAS, December 30, 2021 / PRNewswire / –

What are the news? AT&T * and Cricket Wireless will participate in the new Federal Affordable Connectivity (ACP) program. The ACP will offer eligible households a benefit of up to $ 30 a month and up $ 75 on eligible tribal lands to reduce the cost of broadband service. The ACP will replace the temporary emergency broadband service.

Why is this important? The ACP will help make broadband more affordable for about 30 percent of US households who may be eligible. Affordability is one of the main issues creating the digital divide – the gap between those who have Internet services and those who do not.

How can I take advantage of this? The CPA will begin accepting applications for eligibility and registrations on the 31st of December, 2021. AT&T and Cricket Wireless will begin registering customers in early January. Customers will first need to find out if they are eligible by visiting acpbenefit.org when the CPA starts the December 31, 2021.

What if I already receive the Emergency Broadband Advantage? You don’t have to do anything at this time. Existing EBB customers will continue to benefit from 1st of March if they registered before 6 p.m. ET to December 30. We will be providing more information to clients on the CPA transition in the coming weeks. If you have qualified under the EBB COVID Temporary Income Loss criteria, you may need to re-qualify with the National Auditor on different criteria before applying. 1st of March.
