Beacon Broadband Connects First Customers to New Fiber Network | News

Beacon Broadband, Inc., powered by Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative, has officially connected its first high-speed fiber optic customers to its network. On Thursday, December 9, this festive event marks the first 25 customers of the Beacon Broadband pilot test area who now receive quality high-speed internet service.

“Just over a year ago, Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative created Beacon Broadband to bring the high-speed fiber experience where no one else will go. Looking ahead to our need to build more than 1,400 miles of fiber optic cabling to support a network that will strengthen regional vitality sometimes seems overwhelming. However, any journey of a thousand kilometers begins with a few steps. We are truly delighted to meet today to celebrate these first 25 steps. Paul Recanzone, Managing Director of Beacon Broadband.

Beacon Broadband is building a high-speed fiber-optic network to the premises that will cover the footprint of the CoosCurry Electric Cooperative and include surrounding areas with very little internet access. The company began construction at the southern end of the Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative’s service territory. He plans to reach all CCEC members over the next four years.

The great south coast of Oregon was limited to older cable and DSL internet technology subject to slower service and network interruptions before launch. However, Beacon Broadband’s state-of-the-art network, which provides local and reliable service at symmetrical gigabit speeds, will become widely available as network construction progresses north. Beacon Broadband service offers three Internet packages to choose from to meet various customer needs and will be available to potential customers with no data cap, contract or plan required. With three Internet package offerings, customers can expect to pay $ 120 per month for the top 1 Gigabit Internet package, with installation and equipment included during the construction phases of the project.

Beacon Broadband’s high-speed connectivity will offer more than just enhanced broadband. Beacon Broadband brings the high-speed fiber experience where no one else will and will transform the quality of life and economic vitality of those who live, work and play in Curry and parts of Coos County.
