Clay County residents invited to participate in internet speed test

Clay County residents are invited to participate in an internet speed test to help shape the future of broadband in their communities.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is looking for people to track internet speeds, which will help the state identify gaps in high-speed internet service.

“Using your internet connection, the speed test will measure the internet transmission speed between your device and an outside server. The speed test can be performed using any device with an internet or cellular connection and takes less than a minute. After you pass the speed test, you will receive your test results immediately. The data collected from your internet speed test will be displayed in real time on the broadband availability map of Florida,” read a Clay County news release Tuesday.

If you don’t have broadband, select the “provide an address with no service available” option when performing the internet speed test. This information is needed to prioritize which areas need Internet service the most.
