COMSovereign’s VEO Breaks the Terabit Data Frontier with its Innovative Silicon Dielectric Photonics Technology

DALLAS, December 15, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — COMSovereign Holding Corp. (OTCQB: COMS) (“COMSovereign” or the “Company”), an American developer of 4G LTE Advanced and 5G communication systems and solutions, announced that its silicon photonics unit, VEO Photonics, has been granted a patent on a new technology that has the potential to break the current limit of existing silicon data transmission speeds using standard silicon foundry processes.

VEO’s dielectric technology will allow a silicon modulator to operate up to 10 times the speed of its PN diode equivalent. With its performance advantage, a 400 GB transceiver can be delivered with half the power of existing units, dramatically increasing total capacity while reducing the high costs currently associated with transmitting and cooling large data centers and telecommunications backbones. The applications of this technology extend to 5G, artificial intelligence, matrix switches, quantum computing and many more. VEO’s technology can also be easily scaled to support mass production.

“This is an exciting milestone, for the first time a silicon-based modulator has demonstrated the potential to deliver up to 10 times the speed advantage over its competitors and to do so at a significantly lower cost. reduced,” said Dr. Dustin McIntire, Sovereign CTO of COMS. “By mid-2022, we will be able to demonstrate how this intellectual property will be commercialized and licensable and the key benefits it can bring to data center operations and the deployment of new fiber optic cabling needed to take support 5G. improving network capacity and its compatibility with current fiber optic systems, this dielectric technology can significantly reduce the expected costs of 5G deployment.”
