GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) — NCFL county officials are asking residents for their thoughts on their internet access, or lack thereof.
The Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) offers an Internet Speed Test that helps users identify their Internet speed in areas of North Central Florida that need Internet access.
As each user passes the test, the department’s “broadband availability map” continuously displays internet speeds at each location.
Levy County Purchasing Manager Ali Tretheway said having nearly 2,000 survey participants in his county is critical to receiving internet resources and that information from the survey will help the county de Levy “to access a ton of grants aimed at bringing broadband to areas of our community that I really, really need it.
Tretheway notes that the test protects your identity.
Survey results are to be finalized by June 30.
