Dialog Axiata Expands Free Broadband Connectivity to All Child Development Centers in Sri Lanka

October 01, Colombo: Celebration of World Children’s Day 2021, Dialog Axiata PLC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Preschool and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Educational Services, extended free broadband connectivity to the island’s 379 child development centers.
Since its inception, Dialog has harnessed the power of inclusive technology to provide access to education for children and has undertaken numerous investments to bring every Sri Lankan child closer to a good quality educational experience. These investments include, among others, the Nenasa Digital Education platform connecting 2,000 schools and over 1.6 million households to Nenasa educational television channels on Dialog TV and the Dialog ViU mobile application, the interactive Nenasa smartphone application. , the Nenasa Smart Schools digital transformation initiative and the Dialog Merit Scholarship Program.
The proposed initiative linking child development centers would facilitate access to quality education for 10,632 children across all child development centers through the Ministry of Education’s e-Thaksalawa educational portal.
Speaking at the initiative, the Hon. Piyal Nishantha – Minister of State for Women’s and Children’s Development, Preschool and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Educational Services, said: âWe are grateful to Dialog for providing a free connectivity to all child development centers in Sri Lanka, in support of Nena Pradeepa ‘, where 700 computers have also been facilitated for this purpose by a few other sponsors. Taking action to help realize the right of every child to education is the key to opening up a better future for all. I think it is the responsibility of all Sri Lankans to create welcoming environments for these children so that they can thrive through a quality education, and we thank Dialog for making this initiative possible â .
