As the telecom majors deliberate on the tariff increase, the town of Meghbela Cable and Broadband Services said on Saturday it would stick to its policy of providing quality internet services to the people at great prices. affordable. First ISP in East India to provide video, data and wireless services via fiber optic to the home, it offers unlimited data, phone calls and some premium OTT platforms for entertainment at an effective price of Rs 14.75 per day on a six-month recharge, a senior company official said.

This makes Meghbela’s broadband services more affordable than major telecom operators, he said.

Despite the government’s back-up plan to save the telecommunications sector by offering a moratorium on the payment of telecommunications dues for four years, industry experts have said the respite is temporary and telecommunications operators must increase tariffs by 30 to 40%.

“The evolution is positive for us. At a time when the major players can increase prices, our six-month plan is the cheapest in the industry. Bharat vision, ”Meghbela Broadband co-founder Tapabrata Mukherjee told PTI.

“We offer 60 Mbps data speed, unlimited phone calls and some OTT apps in our basic package of Rs 499. With two months free for six months of payment, the effective price stands at Rs 14.75 per day or Rs 442 per month.

Airtel Xtreme fiber plans start from Rs 499 for 40 Mbps and the Jio Fiber entry plan is Rs 399 per month but offers broadband speed of just 30 Mbps without any OTT app.

There are several pockets in the city where the telecom majors have failed to reach. But regional broadband players have done so in collaboration with cable TV service providers.

“Our core strength will increase with the launch of IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) which has been delayed due to the lockdown. We hope to remain competitive by at least 20% against national leaders. This advantage will help us expand our footprints in the country’s existing and new markets, ”said co-founder Indranil Bhattacharya.

Meghbela’s operations are spread across the eastern states of Bihar, UP, Odhisa, Jharkhand, West Bengal, in addition to Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Meghbela unveiled a voice-activated Android box for consumers looking to convert their regular TVs to smart TVs to provide access to premium OTT platforms and over 150 live TV channels in December of last year, have company officials said.
