OneWeb signed a new distribution partner, Eclipse Global Connectivity (Eclipse) as it seeks to target the government aviation market. The company announced on February 24 a new five-year partnership with Eclipse, a France-based aviation connectivity provider that serves government, military, commercial and commercial aircraft operators.

Eclipse plans deliver new low-latency, fiber-like airtime services, hardware systems and certifications to government aircraft across Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA) with OneWeb connectivity .

The initial focus will be on providing solutions for global range command and control, and manned and unmanned airborne ISR missions. It is hoped that the low-latency service will help combat cloud and applications such as video transmission and synchronization of crypto devices.

“Eclipse and OneWeb share a vision of delivering ingenious connectivity solutions to aircraft operators around the world. Their long and solid experience in providing complete solutions for the complex satcom requirements of government, military and heads of state operators makes Eclipse an optimal partner for us. It’s one of the many reasons we’re thrilled to have the Eclipse team on board,” said Dylan Browne, OneWeb’s Head of Government Business Line, in a statement.
