Production deployments of 56G PAM4 signaling increase dramatically for large-scale server interconnects
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — (TSXV: SEV) (OTCQB: SPVNF) Spectra7 Microsystems Inc. (“Spectre7“or the”Company“), a leading provider of high-performance analog semiconductor products for broadband connectivity markets, announced that it will showcase 100 Gbps server connectivity with Broadcom at the annual the DesignCon conference to be held this year in Santa Clara, California from April 6-7, 2022. The company will showcase active copper cables from cable partners Amphenol and Luxshare along with Broadcom’s TD4-X9 switch and Broadcom’s BCM957508-P2100G network interface card (NIC).
Global NIC Ethernet Adapter Market was valued at US$1.77 billion in 2019, and should reach US$16.30 billion by 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 33.50% from 2020 to 2027.¹ Major cloud service providers are upgrading server connectivity to 100 and 200 Gbps port speeds in conjunction with network upgrades.² These network cards are used in servers by hyperscalers such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Tencentand Alibaba.
As servers adopt higher-bandwidth ports that use 56 Gbps PAM4 signaling, passive cables cannot serve all the necessary lengths. Instead of deploying much more powerful and expensive optical interconnects, carriers are turning to active copper cables (ACC) to meet this growing need. The use of 56G PAM4 signaling is growing significantly for Hyperscale interconnects. The total number of 56G PAM4 interfaces should be multiplied by 3 between 2021 and 2024 to reach 158M interface shipments.³
DesignCon is the premier high-speed interconnect and system design conference attended by engineers from around the world. Spectra7 will be exhibiting at booth #1158.
