- Thales’s TMA 6000 very high speed data link terminal has been certified as STANAG compliant1 7085 Implementation 2 (European standard) after successful test by the DGA.
- The TMA 6000 was certified as compliant with Implementation 1 of the standard in the United States in 2014.
- This dual interoperability allows platforms equipped with the TMA 6000 to benefit from maximum connectivity with US and European platforms in Allied/NATO operating environments.
At the end of 2021, the Thales TMA 6000 data link terminal was certified as compliant with implementation 2 of the NATO STANAG 7085 standard by the DGA, after passing the tests. The TMA 6000 had already been certified as compliant with STANAG 7085 Implementation 1 (Common Data Link) by the US Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) in late 2014. The new certification makes the TMA 6000 the first, and so far only, terminal data link to conform to both implementations of STANAG 7085.
In air combat and allied operations, ever-increasing volumes of data must be shared, more securely and faster than ever before, between allied users. The TMA 6000 is a high-speed line-of-sight (LOS) data link terminal operating in the NATO Ku-band. Associated with an antenna system and an amplifier, it transmits in real time the data collected by the sensors on board aircraft (video streams and images as well as radar and electromagnetic data) to land or naval stations several hundred of kilometres.
STANAG 7085 ensures the interoperability of NATO forces. Specifically, it allows NATO allies to exchange raw data collected by airborne sensors. STANAG 7085-certified data link systems help shorten the OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) loop, allowing armed forces to take advantage of all available information, consider possible options, and quickly take the best decision to gain an advantage over the opponent.
The TMA 6000 is in service on a wide range of high-value aircraft and vessels, including combat aircraft (such as the Rafale), special mission aircraft (ALSR2), helicopters, combat drones, MALE drones, tactical drones, aircraft carriers and frigates.
“The Thales TMA 6000 has been tested in extreme environments and meets the highest military standards. It is the world’s most reliable field-proven data communications system for large platforms. more than twenty years of engineering work on three product generations, the TMA 6000 offers an extremely reliable and robust European data link solution. With dual compliance, it is ready to meet the most demanding requirements of tomorrow’s platforms . Bruno Kerjean, development manager for TMA and micro-TMA data link terminals, Thales.
